History and Recent Development

Brovanture was established in 2005 by Malcolm Brock and Marc van Kan, previously of Comshare, a leading vendor of BI and planning, forecasting and reporting solutions.

With their significant Essbase and Hyperion expertise, Brovanture quickly became Oracle Hyperion Gold Partners, and established a leading reputation for Hyperion implementation, consulting and support.

"We created Brovanture to do something different. So much planning in mid-market companies is done by following the traditional software implementation of gather, build and deliver." Explains Malcolm "Planning, by its very nature, is dynamic and always changing, and we know that Oracle Hyperion has the capability to be the same."

"What makes Brovanture different, and why so many companies rely on us, is that we approach Hyperion implementations as a cycle, implementing in phases, gaining ROI quickly and adapting as the business grows" Marc explains further.

Founders' Bios

Malcolm Brock - Account Director

Malcolm has more than 20 years experience in financial software, and as well as co-founding Brovanture in 2005, has worked for Columbus (Axapta Specialists) and Comshare. Prior to this, Malcolm had various financial control and audit roles in the Hotel industry. Malcolm looks after the business development and client account management.

Malcolm is a squash enthusiast and makes clever use of his golf handicap! Malcolm is a dedicated supporter of both Western Province and Saracens rugby teams.

Marc van Kan - Professional Services

Marc has more than 15 years experience with Essbase, having worked at Dimension Data and Comshare, both in South Africa and the UK. Marc is co-founder of Brovanture, and he looks after the consulting team for implementation and support.

Marc's specialist areas are Essbase and Hyperion Planning.

Marc play squash and golf ferociously, and wholeheartedly supports the Blue Bulls rugby team!

What are you studying at University?
I am studying BSc Financial Mathematics at the University of Surrey

What appealed to you about Brovanture?
There were many reasons. The intern role matched a lot of the criteria that I was looking for in a job and they seemed like a company that generally cared about their employees and clients.

What do you hope to get from your time at Brovanture?
The opportunity to be able to make a difference in the 'real world' and prepare me for life after university. I love university but Brovanture are helping me to realise that finishing my degree and leaving university will not be the worst thing in the world!

What are you plans when you leave University?
To return to Brovanture as a Junior Consultant and continue to grow as a Hyperion consultant and as a person.

Tell us something about you that people might not expect?
I love sports that really challenge me, such as, water sports, snow sports and extreme sports

Surrey University

Brovanture is based at the Surrey Research Park – a centre of excellence in technology, science and engineering, located on the campus of the University of Surrey.

Brovanture is involved with the careers department of the University, working with them to identify students who may be best suited to working in our environment. Degrees in Financial Mathematics, Mathematics and Computer Science and Accounting and Computer Science are favourites.

We love to spot and nurture consultants and Essbase specialists of the future. We work with interns long term, and invest in their development. Uniquely our outgoing intern help us select the new intern.
